The Best and Worst Water

Fresh spring water is terrific for you. The earth receives the rain and filters it, then mineralizes and revitalizes it. Living water ripens in the earth’s womb and is finally birthed to the surface as mature water. It is living, flowing and charged with the minerals you need. If possible, locate a pure spring and fill up your own glass bottles. Second to that, consider buying bottled spring water. Well water may be healthy, although it is not “mature” because it hasn’t experienced the mineralization and purification processes of rising naturally to the surface. It also may be contaminated by local mining, farming or manufacturing activity, so have your well water thoroughly tested.

Read the label carefully on any water you buy. Bottled spring water is best. Both distilled water and reverse osmosis (RO) water have been stripped of their essential minerals. Avoid these options unless you add natural sea salt (which contains about 80 natural minerals) or Himalayan salt, up to one teaspoon per pint of water. Add a little apple cider vinegar, if desired for taste. Listen to your instincts when determining the right salt concentration, since your body may need more or less. Consider using glass or PET (polyethylene terephthalate) bottles for your water, since most plastic bottles leach phthalates and bisphenol A (BPA) into the water. Is it possible that something so innocent as the water in your faucet is bad for your health? Well, in a word … yes. City water is cheap and easy to obtain, but it comes with some serious health consequences. The chlorination process, which kills bacteria in the water, also has some poisonous side-effects. This process creates trihalomethanes, haloacetic acids, bromate and chlorite, which are known to cause bladder and rectal cancer in humans.[1] But don’t worry, there’s hope. If you do not have access to spring water and must drink city water, get a high-quality under-sink or whole-house filter, and don’t forget to change the filter regularly. Remember, if you don’t have a filter, you are the filter, but living spring water will enhance your life.
